Spiritual Development
A dear friend of mine recently asserted that there are three components to a happy, healthy, and effective spiritual life:
- honest and open participation in a small group,
- cultivation of a daily spiritual practice for sustenance and self-reflection, and
- working for positive change in the world
These three components offer a tall order, and they recognize the essential fact that some parts of our journey must be walked alone, while other parts must be walked in the company of others.
Whether you join a small group to make new friends, to find a deeper connection to your church community, or to wrestle with a particular issue in a spiritual context, small groups at First Unitarian offer companions for the journey. And they offer a gentle nudge as well. A nudge to live deeply in this often shallow world, a nudge to risk trusting in a culture covered in superficiality, a nudge to remember and live into the person we've always wanted to be. Come for connection, for depth, for challenge. Come for community, for laughter, for companions for the journey. You'll be glad you did.
In faith
