Upcoming Music & Arts Special Events at 1st Unitarian

(February-May)

V-day Reader's Theatre:
A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer by Eve Ensler
Saturday, March 1

It's the 10th anniversary of the V-Day* movement! V-Day Rochester 2007 raised over $4,300 for Rape Crisis Service and the V-Day Spotlight on Women in Conflict Zones. In 2008, V-Day Rochester will again support our local Rape Crisis Service and the V-Day Spotlight on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

This year, the V-Day organization has given us the option of producing a staged reading of A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer. First Unitarian has kindly agreed to sponsor this production at the church. We are hoping that this event will kick-start the formation of a Reader's Theatre group.

We are looking for volunteers interested in acting, directing, producing, fundraising, logistics, volunteer coordination, graphic design, and public relations. Contact Micky Markert at mmmarke@earthlink.net, or 442-3336 for more details.

*V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of playwright and founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues, and the essay collection A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer.
