Month-Long Exhibits in Room 110 at First Unitarian

October 2007:
Raging Grannies, a photo exhibit by Todd Carlson and Ira Srole

The Raging Grannies exhibit held in October 2007 featured the portraits, personal stories and action photographs of the Raging Grannies by Todd Carlson and Ira Srole. Todd is a senior at RIT's school of photojournalism who showed this work in the student honor show at RIT and at the Anti-war Window downtown over the summer of 2007. His piece gives voice to the individuals who are part of the Raging Grannies movement, and is infused with the joyous sense of humor typical of the 'grannies'. Ira is a photojournalist with the City of Rochester. He is a self proclaimed Raging Grannies Groupie, and the husband of a Raging Granny. Ira's work will make you feel as though you have taken part in their exuberant demonstrations!

November 2007:
Images of Honduras, a photo exhibit by Summer Chapin

Summer Chapin is a Medical Student at University of Rochester Family Medicine. She took the photos for the exhibit during a 2007 visit to San Jose San Marcos, Honduras where U of R is setting up a clinic and First Unitarian has contributed funds from our 2006 Greater Good collection to provide clean drinking water to the village. The photos give a feeling of the people and conditions of the village and inspire many of us to 'live simply so that others may simply live'. San Jose San Marcos has been chosen as the international recipient of our Greater Good collection for 2007 so that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these people and their village.

December 2007:
Rochester Roots, a photo exhibit by Jeffrey Marcus

Jeffrey Marcus is a member of First Unitarian of Rochester. He spent some time with the children who volunteer their time in the Community Gardens run by Rochester Roots and at the Southwedge Market selling their products and produce. Jeffrey's work tells visually of the value of the Rochester Roots project to the City of Rochester, to the education of the children of the City School District, and to the environment. Rochester Roots is the local project approved by our Church School Children as the recipient of this year's Greater Good contibutions.

January 2007:
Greater Good Photo Exhibit Encore

Select photos from both the Honduras Photo Exhibit and the Rochester Roots Exhibit will continue to be displayed in Room 110 as we continue to inform our membership and the Rochester Community about the work being planned with our Greater Good contributions.
