Denominational Affairs

First Unitarian of Rochester is a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), (over 1000 congregations) headquartered in Boston MA, and of the St. Lawrence District (SLD) of the UUA, (34 congregations in upstate New York, one in northern Pennsylvania) headquartered in Buffalo. Members of our congregation have served on the UUA Board, on the District Board, and on various UUA and SLD committees. The Denominational Affairs Committee recruits members to attend the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association, and the Annual General Meeting of the St. Lawrence District, as delegates or observers. There are also District workshops held from time to time around the state in areas of interest such as social justice, religious education, and worship and the arts. The District website and calendar lists these events, and they are featured in our newsletter. Members and friends of the congregation are welcome to attend these meetings, and reports appear in the newsletter.
