Caring & Pastoral Care Services

Memorial Services and Receptions
This service is offered to members or pledging friends of the church. While the minister and family is dealing with what they wish to have in the service itself, the Memorial teams will arrange a reception and provide refreshments, servers as well as assistance during the services with greeters and ushers. We hope to make this time of difficulty for the family and friends a little easier by taking care of these details.

Caring Cuisine
Caring Cuisine volunteers offer the gift of meals - and sometimes cookies - to members and friends who may be in a time of crisis or transition and having difficulty in this area.

The Visiting Team
Committed members and friends visit individuals and families from our church to offer a listening ear and support in times of trouble, illness, or transition. Visiting Team members receive introductory training and meet monthly with lay leaders and Rev. Crow for ongoing support.

Chore and Repair Service
Thanks to the generosity of our church's Bi-Fri group, church members and friends can request assistance with basic repairs and household chores that might be difficult for them, paying only for the cost of materials needed.

The Caring Community Table
Several times a year after Sunday services, the Caring Community provides a table offering a variety of leaflets on end-of-life issues. Information on advance directives, health care proxies, living wills, organ donation, and our Memorial Garden is available.

Caring Quilts
Since 2004, members and friends of our church have decorated a variety of quilt squares which have been lovingly sewn into more than 15 beautiful quilts by dedicated volunteers. Taken to people who are sick, lonely, or struggling, our Caring Quilts wrap around the members and friends of this congregation, embracing them with a message of inclusion, love, and comfort.

Education and Awareness Events
Several times each year, members of the Caring Community Group bring in experts in their fields to speak on a variety of topics including navigating our changing health care system, caring for the caregiver, and death and dying issues.

Flower Distribution
Each year, the caring people of the congregation deliver poinsettias and Easter plants or baskets to homebound members and friends.

Transportation
Members of the Caring Community Group coordinate rides for members and friends to church, medical appointments, and other needed services which are provided by volunteers in the church. Volunteers are also available to help with grocery shopping.

Support Groups
From time to time, support groups meet on a range of topics such as living with loss, coping with divorce or separation, and other subjects as needed.
