Enjoy July

Join us in the garden at 7 PM every Thursday in July as we present our free outdoor concert series for 2010.

In case of rain the evening's concert will be held in our sanctuary.

RPO Jazz group July 1: RPO Jazz - Jazz
What happens when orchestral musicians decide to let their hair down and embrace their inner improvisational voices? You get Rochester Philharmonic Jazz! Comprised of our own Mark Kellogg, trombone; Chip Ross, vibes; Mike Griffin, bass; and Jim Tiller, drums, this group celebrates standards from the great American song book, as well as their own original compositions and arrangements.

hands on guitar July 8: Maria Gillard – Songwriter/Chanteuse
"Maria Gillard sings from the soul, with a clear-eyed vision that cuts straight to your heart. Every time Maria sings, I learn something more about me." - Julia Figueras, WXXI

Kinloch Nelson July 15: Kinloch Nelson and his Jazz Trio – Jazz/Blues
“Kinloch combines a great diversity of musical background with a spontaneous musical imagination … [He] can jump from swing jazz to classical to original music in a breath...always entertaining in any genre”. – Guitar Society of Rochester Bulletin, concert review

Mary Gehman July 22: This Other Life – Roots Rock/Folk
“Gehman’s words are often about trying to figure out and come to terms with the fact that it’s through the hard times that we find our moments of clarity. ‘Those are the only times that I’ve done any kind of transformation over the years.’ Once again, a songwriter’s pain is our gain.” - Jeff Spevak, Democrat and Chronicle

Flint Hill Folk Band July 29: Flint Hill Folk Band: Mitzie Collins, Jim Kimball, Pat Carey and Allen Hopkins – Folk/Americana
The Flint Hill Folk have evolved as the Genesee Country Village Museum's resident musical group. The group puts together special programs of canal songs, women's songs, patriotic airs, Civil War tunes, etc. In addition to a full annual schedule at the Village, the Flint Hill Folk have in recent years performed in Syracuse and Corning, and at a number of Civil War encampments. The Flint Hill Folk will evoke the songs and sounds of New York's history.
